How to prepare an inquiry for a custom-made object

A 3D model helps, but it is not required. A useful estimate starts with the purpose, scale, deadline, and intended environment of the object.

Begin with the purpose of the object

The same shape may require a different structure when it is a museum exhibit, a prop for a single event, or a component used in an industrial setting. Tell us where it will be used, whether it will be transported, and from what distance people will see it.

The most useful information

Your first message should ideally include:

  • expected dimensions or scale,
  • number of copies,
  • required deadline,
  • indoor or outdoor use,
  • expected surface appearance,
  • transport and installation requirements,
  • whether the object has a technical function.

You do not need to choose the material or production technology. We select them after reviewing the application.

What files can you provide?

A production-ready 3D model is useful, but we can also begin with a drawing, 2D documentation, reference photos, a scan, or a concise description. If you have a physical part, 3D scanning or reverse engineering may be the right starting point.

What affects the price?

The price is not based only on print volume. Model preparation, structure, segmentation, assembly, surface quality, painting, iterations, and logistics all matter. Two objects of a similar size can therefore require very different amounts of work.

What happens after the inquiry?

We first check the available information and identify questions that affect the method or cost. We then propose a production approach and scope. For complex work, a concept stage or surface sample may come before full production.
